Possible causes
The bend may be present from growth or follow an injury. Allergy can make a mild bend feel much worse, so both are checked.
How this is assessed
The nose is examined, often with an endoscope, to see how much of the airway the septum occupies. Surgery is offered when the bend is the main cause of symptoms.
Treatment options

- Septal surgery when the bend itself is blocking the airway
