Possible causes
A viral cold, nasal allergy, a deviated septum or nasal swelling can all slow sinus drainage. The cause is confirmed at consultation, not from symptoms alone.
How this is assessed
Dr. Dipen Thakkar examines the nose and asks how long symptoms have lasted. Nasal endoscopy may be used. A scan is requested only when it would change the plan, especially if surgery is being considered.

- Medical treatment for infection, allergy or swelling, when that fits the findings
- Advice on nasal care and follow-up if symptoms settle
- Discussion of endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) if problems persist
- Navigation-assisted sinus surgery for selected complex cases
